Jennifer Lawrence Explains Why She Gave Up Her Dog After Motherhood
Jennifer Lawrence, star of The Hunger Games and Die My Love, has opened up about why she parted ways with her longtime Chihuahua, Princess Pippi Longstocking, after becoming a mother.

Lawrence welcomed her first son, Cy, with husband Cooke Maroney in 2022, followed by a second child in late 2024. Before her relationship with Maroney began in 2018, she had adopted Princess Pippi, who remained in her family even after Lawrence gave her up.

During a Q&A for her film Die My Love, Lawrence shared: “I lived on 1st and 67th just to be near the park for her. After I had a kid, dogs became so scary… one of them bit my son and that just made me want to obliterate every dog ever.”

She added that Princess Pippi now lives with her parents, assuring fans the dog is “alive and well.”

Lawrence still keeps pets, including a cat named Fred, joking about their misunderstood nature: “They are assholes and people who don’t like that about cats… that is what is so funny.”
