Who hasn't dreamed of being a mother of twins?

Who hasn’t dreamed of being a mother of twins?

Try to get pregnant immediately after you stop taking birth control pills.

According to research, women trying to conceive should wait at least 3 months before attempting to do so, as doing so earlier increases the likelihood of conceiving twins.

2. If you’re on a diet, stop!

Although the specific explanation for this is unknown, overweight women are more likely to have twins; if you are on a diet, try to stop it.

3. Eat cassava or sweet potato and drink milk

According to studies, consuming dairy products increases the chances of having twins five times; the population with the most twins in the world is the Yoruba tribe of Africa, which bases its diet on cassava and sweet potato.

4. Take folic acid.

Scientific studies indicate that women who consume some type of supplement, mainly folic acid before pregnancy, increase their chances of a twin pregnancy by up to 40%.

5. Breastfeeding

This only applies to women who have just given birth. If your desire is to have twins, keep trying. You should know that if you are breastfeeding, you are in your best moment to fulfill your dream.

6. Wait until you are 45 years old

This may sound a little crazy, but according to experts, the older a woman is, the greater the probability of conceiving twins. However, you should be aware that trying to get pregnant at this age is riskier, so you should consider whether it’s really worth it.

The twins

To have twins, we can help nature take its course. Both in and out of the lab, fraternal or dizygotic twins are born from two separate eggs, fertilized by two different sperm during the same menstrual cycle. They can be conceived at different times and, theoretically, even by different fathers.

Each twin typically develops with its own placenta and amniotic sac, although sometimes the placentas of fraternal twins fuse into one. The fetuses may be of different sexes and will have the typical resemblance between siblings.

The twins

Monozygotic twins are the result of a single egg that at some point during the first 13 days after conception divides into two or more embryos.

They resemble clones—same sex, same appearance—because they share the same genetic code. These are the rarest pregnancies. Their rate remains stable worldwide and does not exceed 3 or 4 pairs per 1,000 births.
